1876 Strawberry Hill Transformation

Year 2020 Location Cambridge, MA Size 3000 sq ft

General Contractor Streamline Builders Photographer Ben Gebo

This formerly unused basement in Cambridge required a gut renovation to convert it to a multipurpose space that functions as a stunning extension of this home. Now a family room, wine cellar, home office, and elegant bathroom, the design incorporated gorgeous custom glass and steel walls that define the rooms and allow for the passage of light throughout the entire floor. The existing footprint of the bathroom and the location of the plumbing lines were maintained, but the bathroom got a full facelift, and the laundry was efficiently accommodated. Through custom carpentry, the space was carefully organized to add storage and display the clients’ robust wine and guitar collections, which act as design elements in the room. The finished product is a sleek, modern space for working and social gatherings.
